‘Throwing off the hump’ is a term used for the technique used to create many identical forms using one very large cone of clay. For beginning potters, it is a fun way to get comfortable with the wheel and clay quickly! For experienced potters, it is an important skill to master that saves time when making many identical forms or small size pieces such as tea cups and saucers, lids, vases, etc. In this workshop you will learn to throw new forms and small forms while getting comfortable with a new throwing technique to shape, create and trim beautiful pieces!

  • July 15 throwing. July 22 glazing.

  • Small class size to insure instruction focused on you

  • Open to ages 12+

  • $100

Details

  • Includes Clay, tools, glaze and firing.

  • What to bring: Comfortable clothing, a hair tie for long hair and a water bottle. During winter months, please bring inside shoes (crocs or tennis shoes are great) to change into.

  • What not to bring: Food, clay or glaze. Shorter nails and no jewelry will make things easier too.

  • Because we save a wheel just for you, workshops and classes are non-refundable.
