‘Throwing off the hump’ is a term used for the technique used to create many identical forms using one very large cone of clay. For beginning potters, it is a fun and challenging way to get comfortable with the wheel and clay quickly! For experienced potters, it is an important skill to learn if you want to save time making many identiccal forms of a similar or smaller size. In this workshop you will learn to throw new forms, smaller forms, get comfortable with and hone new throwing techniques to shape, create and trim beautiful pieces!

  • July 15 throwing. July 22 glazing.

  • Small class size to insure instruction focused on you

  • Open to ages 12+

  • $100 (Current Studio Members $75)

Details

  • Includes 12lbs of reclaim clay that will be labeled and waiting for you on the 1st day of class.

  • What to bring: Comfortable clothing, a hair tie for long hair and a water bottle. During winter months, please bring inside shoes (crocs or tennis shoes are great) to change into.

  • What not to bring: Food, clay or glaze. Shorter nails and no jewelry will make things easier too.

  • Because we save a wheel just for you, classes are non-refundable.
